Breast Cancer: How to select the right breast form for you.

One of our new clients asked a great question the other day.  How do I select the right breast form for me. Everyone is a different size with different needs from different surgeries?

Most importantly the process of fitting a breast form is dependent on a trained and certified breast form fitter. It is impossible to order products out of a catalog without actually trying them on.  If bras and breast forms are not fit correctly you will be wearing inappropriate and uncomfortable products which can lead to a lack of self esteem,  self confidence and poor posture.

The secret to a good breast form fitting is the fit of the bra. The bra must fit correctly in the band and cup thus allowing the fitter to choose the form that is best to create balance and symmetry. All breast forms are different. The fitter must asses the chest wall, and try on forms that will conform to the back of the chest wall at the mastectomy site. The form chosen, should reflect size, shape and drape of the remaining breast. With bilateral surgeries the forms should compliment the rest of the body size and shape. Using the correct bra will allow us as fitters to ensure a correct snug fit of the forms against the chest wall.
