Breast Cancer Treatment
Now that your doctors know what type cancer you have, whether it is ER or PR positive or HER2 positive, what stage it is in and the tumor grade, you will progress to treatment. Your treatment plan also takes into consideration your age, your lifestyle, your general health and other conditions which may affect cancer treatment.
Your doctors may recommend several ways to attack your cancer. Those include surgery to remove it, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal and biological or targeted therapy. Usually treatment includes a combination of surgery and one or more of the other therapies.
Side-effects and what can help
When you are being treated for breast cancer, you may experience symptoms of the disease and side-effects of the treatment. These can be minor but annoying, such as dryer skin; emotionally painful, such as losing your hair; or physically painful, such as nausea or pain caused by the cancer or treatments. Your doctors and others on your team are ready to help you deal with those issues. Let your doctors know of any pain or other symptoms you have.
