Breast cancer
There are certainly numerous statistics relating to breast cancer available today however , below you’ll get the most interesting ones available.
Breast cancer is now the most common type of cancer worldwide.
It is also the second primary cause of cancer related deaths in the women population, coming in closely behind lung cancer. Statistics show that approximately 465,000 women pass away annually as a result of breast cancer.
It is actually predicted that over the following two years i.e. 2011 and 2012, nearly 3 million new sufferers associated with breast cancer will be diagnosed worldwide (the real statistics won’t be around for a number of years though). It is also believed that about 2.5 million of these cases are usually in women.
The above statistic shows that one in every four females identified as having cancer are in fact diagnosed with breast cancer.
On a worldwide level, 1 in every 10 cancers that are diagnosed turn out to be breast cancer, or have breast cancer as being the prime spot of progress.
Even with all the depressing reports on top of, 89% of people diagnosed with breast cancer remain alive 5 years after the first identification, and this number is constantly on the grow.
The information so far mentioned are based on international numbers. The next data however focuses on the residents of America.
If every woman in the US lived to 70+ years, 1 in 8 would be diagnosed with breast cancer at some stage in their life. Mainly because not everyone lives past 70 years of age however the probability drops to around 1 in every 15 women.
The threat of breast cancer growing increases dramatically with age. So for example, a 25-year old woman has a one in two thousand chance of becoming identified as having the problem while a sixty five year old woman has a 1 in twenty six chance.
Nearly 80% of breast cancer conditions occur in women older than fifty.
There is a 3% possibility that breast cancer may cause the death of any individual American citizen. This may not look like a likely consequence but it is two times that of most other forms of cancer.
Less than 1% of new breast cancer cases are identified in men. It means that less than two thousand new cases are predicted for this year i.e. 2011 (once again the exact information will need many years to come out).
Of the 465,000 women that die of breast cancer each year, nearly 40,000 of these are American.
As you can see the information go on and on however the good news is that the occurrence of breast cancer on a worldwide scale is falling by around 2% each year. Those that are usually diagnosed are living more time and seeing more cures as well, and so all the signs are optimistic for a major breakthrough in the world of breast cancer.
