Moving Forward After Cancer: Work

 by

Young adults with cancer are leaving school and facing a tough job landscape in a sluggish economy. Worrying about life after cancer adds another layer of complexity to finding and keeping a quality job. Do you tell the hiring manager you had cancer? How do you explain gaps in employment? What about asking for transition time into a new job after months of being off work? It might seem like there is a lot “up in the air” when it comes to being a cancer survivor in the workforce, but there’s good news. There are laws to protect you from discrimination and the LIVESTRONG Foundation can help walk you through your rights.
In these two “Moving Forward” videos from ASCO and the LIVESTRONG Foundation, you’ll learn from medical experts and young adult cancer survivors about returning to work after treatment. These videos are geared toward young people entering the workforce, but all cancer survivors can benefit from the information. Our professional social workers at the Foundation can walk you through your employment rights, offer advice and support you as you return to the workforce. Read more about employment rights for survivors, call us directly 1-855-220-7777 or contact usthrough our website for more information.
