When dealing with particularly challenging medical issues, like a cancer diagnosis and treatment, it can be hard to keep track of who and what is going on around you.

That's where a nurse navigator can provide help – a nurse navigator is a specialty trained registered nurse who can serve as a patient advocate, coordinate the patient's care, and educate the patient and her family.

sue bowman cancer patient advocate wellspanSusan Bowman, a nurse navigator at the York Cancer Center, was recently named Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator of the Year.
Her work with over 2,600 patients in the York Cancer Center Breast Program for nearly a decade was recognized by by the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators (AONN) when she was presented with this award.
Bowman created the breast cancer navigation program to address the specific needs of WellSpan patients.
